"MY THOUGHTS" by JESSE HERNANDEZ
| JESSE'S THOUGHTS December 31, 2007
It is an end of an era. The building that for the last fourteen or so years had been the home of our wrestling school, the School of Hard Knocks, is empty. Thursday, December 27, 2007, we held the very last workout. Students and their mothers came together with a pot luck. Many of our past students came to look at the building for the last time and many came to work out for the last time. In attendance were some of the greatest wrestlers that got their start at this facility, Rocky Romero, Frankie Kazarian, Sonny Suave, Cincinnati Red, T J Perkins, Joey Ryan, Mike Cordova (who many years ago started under the name Beetle Juice), Carla Jade, Our friend Rock "Mr. Wonderful" Riddle, and his lady friend Bobbie, Dan "The Man" Kobrick, "Handsome" Johnny Star, our Russian friend who years ago wrestled for EWF as Farouk, Sonny Samson, Jeremy Jaeger, Espiritu Infernal, Mercurio (Luchador friend of ours that helps with training in the Lucha style) Kris Kadillak and many others, including a call from former EWF and WWE superstar Rico early in the evening. Not forgetting Bino Gambino, EWF Heavyweight Champion, leading the class of young and aspiring young wrestlers into a hard and tremendous workout. I was in awe at all the students and former students that made their presence known. It made me feel very proud to have them there showing respect not only for me but for themselves as they have not forgotten their roots. Special thanks to all the ladies (mothers) that helped make this a success by arranging pot luck. Tuesday, January 2, 2008, the
NWA/School of Hard Knocks will start the year at a new facility. We
have joined forces with American
Sports University. ASU is located in downtown San Bernardino.
We are proud that we have such a large facility with a complete gym
and indoor running track, cardio machines and weights. Our students
will have access to all gym equipment and have the opportunity to
join MMA classes, Muay Tai, Boxing etc.
