JESSE
HERNANDEZ Jesse Hernandez and the School of Hard Knocks cordially invite you to join the West Coasts oldest and most prominent professional wrestling school. The School of Hard Knocks is owned and operated by Jesse Hernandez. Jesse has been involved in training wrestlers since 1982. Jesse originally started training in 1979 although, it wasn’t until 1980 that the Great Goliath, of Black Gordman and Great Goliath fame, started training Jesse professionally. It was a whole year of constant training with the Great Goliath that finally gave Jesse and his then tag team partner, Juan Hernandez, the opportunity to finally step into their first professional match facing none other then Rey Misterio Sr. and his then tag team partner, Pequeno Apolo. That match took place in January of 1981 opening the doors to the Mike LeBelle promotion based out of Los Angeles with wrestling events at the Grand Olympic Auditorium, working with legends such as Victor Rivera, John Tolos, Ciclon Negro, Mil Mascaras and so many others from that era. Jesse Henandez spent nine years with Goliath helping Goliath with the training of many individuals such as Tim Patterson, Bulldog Sampson, "Canadian Tiger" Mike Lozansky and so many others that moved on to become stars in Mexico, Canada and Japan. Jesse Hernandez, through his work with the Mike LeBelle promotion, also became involved with office duties, doing the contract and visas for wrestlers that were being sent to New Japan. With Mike selling his territory to the then WWF, currently known as the WWE. In 1983, Jesse was then assigned to perform other duties under the direction of Mike LeBelle, at the time that Mike had became the California promoter for the WWF. Jesse also became a West Coast referee under the name Jesse Hernandez and wrestler under the name of Jesse Cortez and as the Intruder. Jesse worked actively with the WWF until 1997 and still has an open door policy with the company. During those early years Jesse trained many young wrestlers that the then WWF used for television tapings in the 1980’s. During the 90’s Jesse trained wrestlers such as Cincinnati Red, who now is head booker for EWF, Tom Howard who is now head trainer at UPW and Suicide Kid Mikey Henderson, who with Jesse’s influence, a movie on his life was filmed as well as Rocky Romero, who is at this time an established wrestler in Japan as Black Tiger, and in Mexico as one of the Havana Brothers for C.M.L.L. along with Ricky Reyes. Rocky and Reyes both originally started with Jesse at the School of Hard Knocks. Jesse also trained Kia Stevens, who works in Japan as Amazing Kong, and now with T.N.A. as Awesome Kong Jesse has students scattered throughout the world such as Italy, Germany, Samoa, Canada, Mexico, New Zealand, and Australia, Japan, and throughout the whole United States. Jesse trained Rico Costantino of American Gladiators fame, who in WWE was better known as the flamboyant RICO, Also trained Frankie Kazarian, Keiji Sakoda, Melina Perez former WWE Women's champion, and also including WWE Referee Marty Elias. Many have come to Jesse Hernandez for additional training after being trained somewhere else. Including Chris Jericho who came to brush up on the Lucha style before heading down to Mexico, and then Japan, way before his WWE days. Currently Jsse is helping with the training of WWE Diva Layla.
