EWF 2006 YEAR END AWARDS January 20, 2007 2006 Wrestler of the Year Bino Gambino
Bino Gambino is, unquestionably, EWF's 2006 Wrestler of the Year. With the exception of just a few months early in the year, Bino has held on to the EWF Championship for nearly the whole year. Just as it seemed that Bino was out of the EWF title picture, he defeated then champion, Syrus, cleanly at the Orange Show Pavilion. Not only that, he became the only wrestler in EWF history to hold on to the EWF Championship for longer than one year, cumulatively. It's no doubt Bino will continue to rise to the top in 2007. 2006 Rookie of the Year Angelas
This year's Rookie of the Year is an obvious choice. In his very first match, Angelas took former EWF Champion, Tag Champion & American Champion Jason King to the limit. Although he ultimately lost this match, Angelas showed the EWF exactly what he was made of and not to be taken lightly. In just a few months after his debut, he defeated other rookies Bernie Bays & J. Terex, III. In other matches he has defeated Jason King & EWF Champion Bino Gambino with Liger Rivera as his partner, he has come out the victor in a Battle Royal and came a hair short of winning the American Championship in a tournament final, losing to last year's Rookie of the Year, Dan Kobrick. One thing is for sure, Angelas will make his sophomore year another year to remember. Honorable Mentions: Country Bear, Carla Jade, J. Terex, III
2006 Most Improved Wrestler of the Year Ryan Taylor
Ryan Taylor has made huge strides in the EWF this past year, earning him the first ever Most Improved Wrestler of the Year award. Taylor solidified his position by defeating the most dominant Cruiserweight Champion in EWF history, Joey Harder. Not only did he take him to the limit on more than one occasion, he has managed to defeat him on more than one occasion as well. He has also kept a firm grasp on the title as well as challenging for both the American Championship and the EWF Championship. Honorable Mention: Dan Kobrick
EWF 2006 Match of the Year JOEY HARDER vs HOOK BOMBERRY (12/15/06)
Not only has this match been chosen as 2006 Match of the Year, but it has another historic achievement for the EWF. It is the first time EWF Tag Team Champions have faced off against one another while still holding the titles. This match took place in the 3rd round of the Inland Title Series at Holiday Fear 2006. Hook Bomberry wanted Joey Harder to "do the right thing" and lay down for him. When Harder refused, Hook graciously laid down for Harder, only to quickly roll him up and nearly steal the win. Surprising, this match turned into a brutal attack on Joey Harder's leg by Hook. Bomberry seemed to care very little about his tag partner or the future of the tag team championship. Harder managed to capture Hook in his patented Lion Tamer submission to pick up the win. After the match, Hook reluctantly shook Joey's hand.
